Dear Fema: Letters of Complaint to FEMA, Insurance Companies, Public Officials

Stop suckling from the government tit…

Posted on 01/14/06

Dear FEMA haters,

It should not be up to the government to take care of everyone who’s down on their luck. Anyone who didn’t have the proper insurance and is now homeless was taking their chances and is now going to suffer a bit. People, we need to stop suckling from the government tit. Let’s buck up and become more responsible for our own welfares. I had insurance for all of my destroyed property with a reputable company with a good reputation. They took care of me and now my life is back on track. Good luck to you all.

  1. What part you don’t understand? Everyone is not home owners and everyone could not afford renters insurance. I know it doesn’t cost that much, but when you live check to check, maybe it is. I am so happy for you that you personal property was covered. But please stop saying people were not responsible because they did not have insurance. Maybe their responsibility was placed elsewhere, ie…rent, utilities, food, clothes for their kids, etc…. I am a renter and I did not have insurance, my lost. But if we are going to talk about responsibility what about the Government responsibility to make sure that we are safe. New Orleans devastation was do mostly due to flooding. Levees breech. Government cut backs. Responsibility, yes we should be responsible. This includes the Gov. They should do what is right. Stop stealing and Do The Right Thing. Then we won’t have to suck their tits.

  2. As the other person stated, good to hear you up and running well, which makes me question why you were at this site in the first place……hmmmm could have been planted???
Anyways, fema dropped the ball in the begining. but lets goo back a little further…maybe if someone wasn’t sucking a tit, out Levees would have been built like they were SUPPOSE to.
Peoplw that were stuck at the superdome are now living a good free life in Texas, but once again what about the people here? the FEMA ball is a slippery one, just keeps on dropping. They want people to come back, TO WHAT? S&WB bills of $200? Entergy Bills of $600, assistance that you need a code word to get your foot in the door for help. This whole situation is sickening. My FEMA inspector, just showed up, while I was taking a bath, no phone call or anything………he was from Chalmette, lost everything, and had no proble letting me know I was lucky to even have a house..okay thanks, well it wasn’t till 4 weeks later when i got the letter saying I did not suffur any damage, that I decided, that was enough!
So, im glad you are all fine and dandy, but alot of us arent!

  4. When the government stops sucking on my teats, I’ll stop trying to keep up with them. Are you a little rich boy, or just a stupid red neck who thinks he has ideas that are worth paying attention to.

  5. But it’s okay to declare war on countries that don’t threaten us???

Jesus would be appalled by your attitude sir/ma’am. As a libertarian, I put up with fools who need protection from big bad Al Qaeda via the constitutionally destructive Patriot Act. I bet YOU think it’s okay eh? If those that defend the Patriot Act say we need to have security, why is it NOT important to help those displaced by a natural disaster???

FEMA dropped the freaking ball here. I love my country, but I was ashamed at how they handled/are handling things in LA and MS. You seem confused…it IS the government’s job to provide relief to it’s citizens in a time of emergency. It IS NOT the government’s job to spy on me or order wiretaps for the heck of it. It IS NOT our job to nation build. It IS our job to ensure our country’s citizens have the best chance at life and the pursuit of happiness.

So what are you saying? When Al Qaeda attacked us should we have just let NYC rot? When a tornado hits, should we just ignore it? Please…you are sad and pathetic and your attitude is something that is UNAmerican.

  6. to begin with, the Corps of Engineers was in charge of building the levee system. There was money disappropriated due to stealing, using for other projects, whatever. These things were done in the ’60s, so Nagin had nothing to do with it. But let’s say the levees were built according to code and everything was done correctly. Built to endure a CAT 3 storm. BIG DEAL!! Katrina came in at CAT 4 strength. The levees still would not have held. So why all the bickering over the levees being built to CAT 3 specs? I would be hollering why they ONLY prepared for a 3 storm instead of a 4 or 5. Camille in ‘69 showed everyone how powerful these things can get! Now they are going to fix them for a CAT 3. WHY? Did they not get it that Katrina was stronger? GEEZ!

  7. I assume you live in the woods away from people, with no phone because everyone I know is getting screwed by FEMA, RC and insurance. Me being one and family members being 2,3,4,5,6, etc.

you say,”I had insurance for all of my destroyed property with a reputable company with a good reputation. They took care of me and now my life is back on track”

My mother lived on the beach and was told she really didn’t need much flood insurance because she was 17′ above sea level. In fact, one of the highest lots on the beach. She got about 1/2 or $125,000 anyway. Assuming even if she did get flooded, insurance would be paying her also for wind damage, etc. BOY, was that a mistake! On her 1/2 million dollar house, FEMA gave her the $125,000 and RC gave her a few dollars. The insurance company told her that they were sorry but there was nothing that they could do for her. This was done by a REPUTABLE company with a GOOD history. Her and my father worked hard for that house and property and paid insurance on it for 35 years with NO CLAIMS. So you are trying to say that because you happened to luck up and get a good adjuster, that everyone that received NOTHING should stop whining? My sister was thrilled when she figured after receiving some money from FEMA, RC and insurancce, that she was ONLY going to loose $50,000. Her neighbors fared MUCH worse.
I can look out my door and count 100s of houses that were flooded and ruined, although my house was not. There were 3 houses in approx. a 20 block area that was not flooded. I did receive much damage. Roof, Carpet, front columns, shutters, 2 cars, fence, sheds, etc. No help from FEMA or the RC. My insurance company assumed contractors were going to do all labor for FREE because my total claim amount that I received was $9,600. Just the roof cost that amount and I had just replaced it 2 years ago.
Well, this FINE and REPUTABLE insurance company (state farm) is screwing me, my mother, my sister and 1000s of others along the coast.

  8. Dear Gregory Smith,

I hope that I speak for many people when I say that we’ll stop “sucking on the government tit” when they stop trying to screw me in the a$$! I was unfortuante enough to rent and not have insurance. Other priorities, like feeding my family, take priority over renter’s insurance. Not that it would have done me much good, judging by how other people have been treated by their insurance companies. I think you, sir, are an ignorant ass. I think that you don’t consider that some people weren’t as fortunate as you obviously were. Perhaps you should quit pointing fingers at people and try helping. When you point out that people are “sucking the government tit”, what you are really saying is that you feel you are better than people who are less fortunate than you. I would really hate to see what you would do if you were less fortunate. Perhaps I’d spit on your sorry self if you were on fire, but with your poor attitude toward others, you don’t even deserve that consideration.

To the others that have been jerked around by our wonderful Federal government, I feel your pain. I’ve been led on a wild goose chase since Katrina happened, and I’m sick and tired of it. I had a higher opinion of our system before this happened, but now I feel that they don’t really care. They care about taking our tax money from our paychecks, but they don’t care to help people who need it. Oh, and Gregory, I really hope that you feel good about yourself and getting your life back while condemning and belittling people that haven’t gotten their lives back. I’m glad that a small minded arrogant selfish pig like you isn’t in charge of helping people that need it. What goes around, comes around, sir. Have fun with all your precious possessions, etc. I hope you can sleep at night, knowing that it’s people like YOU, Gregory, that make this country look bad. I would think that someone who went through all of this would have something that you obviously don’t have…compassion. So Gregory, you can just BITE ME!

    Concerned Citizen.

  9. A LOT OF YOU SHOULD GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT. THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT FOR ONE HAD ASKED FOR MORE MONEY TO FIX THE LEVIES AND WAS DENIED. YES SOME PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE HAD INSURANCE SEEING THEY LIVE IN AN AREA THAT HAS HAD FLOODING. BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY THERE ARE THINGS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE BEFORE DURING AND AFTER THE STORM THAT DIDN’T. NO ONE SHOULD BE COMING ON HERE SAYING YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS OR THAT BECAUSE WE ARE NOT IN THEIR SITUATION. HOW DARE YOU CONDEM PEOPLE THAT HAVE LOST EVERYTHING. WHAT ABOUT ALL THOSE PEOPLE WHO DID GET INSURANCE AND THE COMPANIES REFUSE TO PAY? WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY TO THEM???? MAYBE YOU CAN ANSWER A QUESTION WHY WERE THEIR OVER 200 BUSES IN NEW ORLEANS THAT WERE NEVER ORGANISED FOR AN EVACUATION??? WHY DID PEOPLE DIE ON THEIR ROOF WHILE WATITING FOR HELP???? WHAT WAS THAT THEIR FAULT. YOU ARE PROBALY A FEMA REP OR SOMEONE WHO HAS THEIR HANDS DIRTY IN ALL THIS GET A LIFE AND STOP KICKING PEOPLE WHEN THEY ARE DOWN. I GUESS YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE BORN WITHOUT A HEART OR SOUL.

  10. ok the government should stay out of our personal lives and we need to step up and take responsibilities for ourselves i could understand if you were screwed by the government then they should fix it. but if you put yourself into a bad situation you should be able to get yourself out of it. but as far as im concerned the government should stay the fuck out of my life.

i never did anything to the government but i feel like i have no privacy from the government. its none of their business if i am a huge drug dealer of if i forget to use me blinker once. so fuck the government and im going to do what i can to protect my rights and privacy nomatter what comes my way!
after all i pay taxes and when you think about it taxes are basically extortion money. you pay them they make sure you and many other people have programs to help yoou in the future. and you jump through their hoops the cia wont have to get rid of you.
