Dear Fema: Letters of Complaint to FEMA, Insurance Companies, Public Officials

Full Circle to Countrywide Mortgage

Posted on 12/08/05

We have come full circle now from FEMA, SBA, Insurance companies and
their adjusters to the mortgage companies. Countrywide told us initially
to send in our check and they will endorse and immediately return it.
After 3 weeks we started calling only to find out that they will send
out 1/3 of the check. A week later no check and another call, was told
they would send out only $15,000 which for our check is far less than
1/3. Another week and the check was returned for our endorsement. 5
weeks to return a check? Also they will not pay you any interest on the
money they put in escrow for your repairs, what a windfall for
Countrywide. If anyone knows where we can file a complaint I would appreciate the information.

  1. I am having the exact same problem with Countrywide. I called on a Monday to inquire about the status of my check and was told that the check was being ordered and being FedEx backed to me and to call on Friday to get the tracking number of the check. Called back on Friday and to my surprise the check was not even ordered yet. Spoke with 3 different supervisors, and the only response that I received was that, “I should have received my checks days ago, and that they have no idea how or why it was overlooked.” I did not think their answer was acceptable, so I filed a complaint with the Louisiana Office of Financial Institutions. Their phone number is 1-888-525-9414 and their website is www.ofi.louisiana.gov.

  2. SAME STORY, I HAVE GOT NOTHING BUT THE RUN AROUND. I WAS TOLD TO ENDORSE AND SEND THEM THE CHECK. I ORDERED THE INSPECTION. THE INSPECTOR REPORTED 90% OF MY REPAIRS COMPLETE ON 11/14, I TALKED TO AT LEAST 12 DIFFERENT PEOPLE, 12 DIFFERENT STORIES, THEY WOULD HAVE THE “SUPERVISOR” CALL ME WITH IN “24 HOURS”, NEEDLESS TO SAY LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, THAT NEVER HAPPENED. THEN FINALLY I CALLED BACK AND DEMANDED TO TALK TO A SUPERVISOR, SHE TOLD ME THEY WERE WAITING FOR A FEDEX TRACKING NUMBER, AND THEY WOULD RELEASE MY MONEY RIGHT AWAY, IT WOULD BE EXPEDITED! I TOLD HER I WOULD HOLD, SHE CAME BACK AND TOLD ME FEDEX PHONE NUMBER BUSY! IT TOOK 6 WEEKS TO GET TRACKING NUMBER? THEN AFTER 6 WEEKS OF EXPEDITING MY CLAIM, I CALLED HER DIRECT LINE… BUSY, LEST MESSAGE, HAVE NOT HEARD FROM HER YET. THEN FINALLY 12/21, THEY SENT ME A CHECK FOR 5k OF MY 37k, I HAVE SPENT 14k OUT OF MY POCKET AND EXHAUSTED MY SAVINGS, MERRY CHRISTMAS COUNRTYWIDE. LOOKING FOR NEW MORGTGAGE COMPANY AND A LAWYER.
