I LIVE IN D’IBERVILLE, MS. I LOST EVERYTHING 4FT DOWN CARS INCLUDED. I WANT TO KNOW WHY SOME PEOPLE ARE FORTUNATE TO GET THEIR APPLICATIONS PROCESSED WITHOUT GRIEF, AND THEN THE UNFORTUNATE ONES LIKE MYSELF HAVE TO FIGHT WITH EVERY BREATH TO GET WHAT LITTLE WE CAN FROM FEMA. I KNOW SOMEONE THAT IS A RENTER AND SHE DIDN’T LOSE ANYTHING, STILL LIVES IN THE HOUSE WITH HER FAMILY AND ONLY HAD ROOF DAMAGE WITH A LITTLE MOLD FROM THE RAIN. SHE RECEIVED 26,000 FROM FEMA!!! MEANWHILE I HAVE HAD TO FIGHT AND APPEAL FOR THE 2ND TIME TO GET 4500? THIS MAKES NO SENSE TO ME! I KNOW THAT I AM FORTUNATE TO ONLY GET 4 FT! I AT LEAST STILL HAVE A STRUCTURE, BUT WHY IS IT THAT THOSE OF US WHO REALLY NEED THE MONEY TO FIX OUR HOMES GET SH*T ON? I GOT DENIED BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY, DENIED BY SBA, AND NOW BEING DENIED BY FEMA! I HAVE HAD 3 FEMA INSPECTORS FOR THE SAME JOB! ALL BLAMING THE OTHER GUY FOR NOT DOING HIS JOB! 1ST GUY WALKED AROUND THE HOUSE AND WROTE EVERYTHING DOWN WRONG! 2ND GUY JUST HAD ME SIGN THE SAME PAPER THE OTHER GUY DID AND LEFT. HE DIDN’T GO IN THE HOUSE. 3RD GUY DID THE INSPECTION FROM THE OUTSIDE…NEVER WALK INSIDE..BLINDS WERE PULLED DOWN ALSO..WHAT COULD HE REALLY SEE? PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY IT TOOK 3 PEOPLE TO DO THE SAME JOB WRONG? I AM NOW APPEALING FOR THE 2ND TIME. I’M JUST SO TIRED OF DEALING WITH THIS! I WOULD GIVE ANYTHING TO BE ABLE TO HAVE MY LIFE BACK..BUT ON THE OTHER HAND..I HAVE A LIFE TO GET BACK..SOME WERE NOT SO FORTUNATE! Dear FEMA haters,

It should not be up to the government to take care of everyone who’s down on their luck. Anyone who didn’t have the proper insurance and is now homeless was taking their chances and is now going to suffer a bit. People, we need to stop suckling from the government tit. Let’s buck up and become more responsible for our own welfares. I had insurance for all of my destroyed property with a reputable company with a good reputation. They took care of me and now my life is back on track. Good luck to you all.

We are displaced from Chalmette, LA and now in Alabama. We have been trying to get back to Louisiana to take care of our properties. The problem is the cost of rentals is over $1200 month and if we got a hotel the rooms are $125.00 and higher a night. This is just so unfair and the people in Louisiana are taking advantage of families like us and not giving us a fair shot to get back home.

We have been here for 4 months and still in the same situation as we were back in September. We have 2 houses that are just sitting there and a senior in high school who can’t get back down to go to her old school.

We don’t hear anything from FEMA and really wish they would come through to help us. If they would continue to help us with Rental Assistance maybe we could afford some of the rentals back home.

I am not the type of person to ask for anything as I have worked all my life. But now at this drastic time in our lives we just thought we could get help to get back on our feet and move on with our lives where we could live, get employment and get our new home. But without assistance we can’t do anything.

If someone could help this would be the greatest gift anyone could give me.

You know I posted a letter saying that Fema was not fair to the people who lost everything. Well it seems that there was no respond to the letter. I have been doing research on this whole Fema crap dealing with the storm, and have discovered that most of the people who did get the benifits for there lost of homes, and other assets, were not really poor people. Now is this something that should be looked into more? Come on now, how come the poor people can’t get any help? We pay taxes too! We need the help just like everyone else, don’t you think? Well we think so. I mean come on they even had people getting things and lost nothing, and others like myself who lost everything and case is closed. I mean come on now, shouldn’t we be given something! I agree with everyone else, vote out the looser and maybe someone will get in who will help people like us who can’t just up and buy another home, car,ect…. Is there someone who fits this discription? If so please stand up for us!!! Where is the justice for us? Again I ask, what about us? When do we get the help we diserve? Do we exist to FEMA? Or is it that there just keeping the money for them selfs? To thousands of people it seems to be that way. Why is it FEMA that hundreds of people still have no home or no help to replace the home they lost. FEMA,FEMA,FEMA, WE NEED HELP WHY ARE YOU TURNING US DOWN? Give us the answers were looking for. We deserve the right to know!!!!

I am really trying to understand FEMA. Is this disaster so big that they really don’t have a clue as to what to do? So many people are being screwed by this group.

My sister, brother and myself all lived in this huge apartment complex in Harvey, LA. The complex was really devastated. We all lost everything. Part of the roof came off my apartment. Parts of the side of the building came off. I lived in the apartment above my sister and my brother lived in another part of the complex. We received a letter from the building months later stated that the apartment complex will be completely shut down due to safety and health reasons. They may even have to bull doze it. With that said this is what FEMA is telling us:

My sister: Her case was closed because the Inspector could not reach her (he tried 7 times). This was not true, they had my sister cell phone number and she answered every call that came through, none of which was FEMA. She did not receive the $2358 and cannot get any explanation as to why. She has no where to live and is living with family members.

My Brother. He is a single father. The apartment he lived in windows was blown out, he lived in a bottom apt and it flooded. He lost everything. He received the 2,000 and the 2358 but was sent a letter stating that he suffered no damages and would not receive any more monies. He is living in a part of Texas with a 2 year old and no family support because we are all scattered across Texas, LA, AL, AR, TN

Myself: As I stated before roof came off, side came off, mold and mildew everywhere. They sent me the 2,000 and the 2358 - nothing else. I guess I am lucky at least my case is still open. But it has been open and pending since Oct. I have sent them everything they ask for… rent receipts, letter requesting additional help, declaration page and so forth. I started this in Oct. They said an Inspector tried to call me too. Guess how many times? 7 times. You think it was the same inspector? I was also told my a FEMA worker to write a letter stating that I am looking for a job, and don’t plan to depend on government hand out. Government had out. Where do the Gov get their money from. TAX PAYERS. I don’t want a handout, but I do want what is do to me. I want to recover some of my personal property. I say some because they could never replace the precious items that I had.

FEMA is really beginning to be a pain in the A**. I have wrote letters to my congressman, ha ha, nobody seems to care. Even the media has back off. I would like to see an investigation as to why some people are being paid and some are not. I would like to understand the critera being used to give these people money. The media loves big stories. How is this for Headlines. Misappropriation of Money by FEMA. A lot of people donated money. Why is FEMA holding onto it. What is the slow response about this time. We send money to other countries, why can’t they help people right here in the USA.

I am tired , very frustrated but I will not give up.
